One of my least-favorite words, one that both implies the person using it is elitist and also kind of a baby, is "hardcore." I think of it mostly in the context of gaming. To some people, if it's not "hardcore," it's not good. I've been bullied by this term for decades now.
It feels uniquely tox/masc. It's used to put some art in a box, and keep everything else out of that box. It's gatekeeper bullshit and I hate it. What an ugly word.
