    A player I introduced to three years ago with a campaign is taking on the mantle of GM! She ran a practice session a few weeks back and is starting Rise of the Runelords for her group next weekend! Proud GM moment. Now to convince her to join us on twitter.

    You will never go wrong by knowing the people at your table and tailoring the experience to them. Incidentally, you're also one of the people at your table so know your preferences too.

    It depends entirely on the group and the experience you're going for. I learned the hard way as a very sandbox that some players want more structure and even to be railroaded a bit. In my experience, most players like a balanced approach.

    So I'm a bit confused about something D&D related. Are DM's supposed to be storytellers or not? I've heard that they're supposed to be and have a well crafted story, but I've also heard that they're not and that they should just go with the players. Which is it?
