Flus can also mess up you body in unexpected ways. For example, a flu took down my thyroid gland for months. I know, the plural of "anecdote" is not "data." Still, it took the doctor about five seconds to determine the cause of the problem because it happens so often.

Measles not only suppresses your immune system for 12 months or more it actually erases any immunities you all ready had. So you're left with a naive immune system while recovering with a suppressed immune system. My Great Aunt survived an outbreak. Two of her brothers didn't.

I'm so sorry to hear that :( Yes, measles is an insidious disease. There has also been speculation of a correlation between post-childhood measles and MS, but I'm not sure if that claim has been supported by further study.
