    Today is - last week the UK became the first major economy to announce that it is legislating for net zero emissions by 2050. We’re also bidding to co-host COP26 with Italy. Nothing is more important for the future of our planet than tackling climate change.

    The UK & US have the closest defence relationship of any 2 countries. Our Armed Forces work every day to keep our citizens safe from a multitude of threats. Follow or for stories from the 2500+ members of British Armed Forces around the US.

    The UK is the US’ only ‘Day 1, Night 1’ partner, globally deployable and capable of operating in high-intensity conflicts. Our forces are deliberately designed to operate seamlessly alongside the US. In other words, we train together and fight together in real time.

    Vitally important announcement today. We are the first G7 country to legislate for emissions. We cannot underestimate the risks that climate change poses to our planet - we must take action now. Proud that the UK is leading the way.

    This afternoon and visited Westminster Abbey. The President and First Lady laid at a wreath at the Grave of the Unknown Warrior, toured the Abbey and signed our Distinguished Visitors' Book. More on our website:

    Excellent start to the . Day one ended with a spectacular State Banquet, hosted by The Queen, who said “Mr President, as we look to the future, I am confident that our common values and shared interests will continue to unite us”. More to follow tomorrow!
