Well of course, there weren't any real medical benefits that stood up to scrutiny, and they even had to admit they didn't know the risks, so they needed SOMETHING to justify the lie and the defense of mutilation. Being a medical body they had NO BUSINESS commenting on faith.

Oh they know damn well what the risks are. They just don't mention them because if they did they would look absolutely insane for saying "the benefits outweigh the risks".
