Adding more context the officer told the MAGA crowd to leave the area for 45 minutes so the PD could remove the anti-fascists themselves. This cop was giving the go ahead for PB to come back and sweep up the stragglers after they left.

The rule is not for cops but for everyone. They certainly need to be videotaping every interaction with Antifa since Antifa is actually fascist too and some are violent. A video needs to be from beginning to end to have any value at all.

I'm a decent sized biker who's done MMA and taught law enforcement/military CQB since I was in my teens. I'm a democratic socialist and I know others like me. Not sure why you'd think we all need the cops around.
I consider myself a dem socialist. I only have 2 years exp in Jiu jitsu but that’s more than enough to defend myself in hand to hand combat if the cops don’t.
As someone who has trained various martial arts and can handle myself fine, this isn't it. Those groups train group tactics. Even martial arts that teach you to defend various attackers at once tell you to retreat if it's a group assault, especially if the cops join in
Anything can happen so if the scenario came where I had to defend myself against one, maybe two, I would. Only a fool or maybe a pro fighter would fight more than that at once.
