...and I'm out re: Marvel Snap. Getting new cards is a slow grind, but going from a guaranteed random card to only a chance at a new card at higher levels kills it for me. Fantastic core game design, but stifling as someone who enjoys experimenting with decks.
Oh! I've just been reminded - I finally saw Ping Pong: The Animation. Absolutely fantastic, particularly it's climax and conclusion, and I can definitely see why its so close to so many people's hearts.
Oh, we doing top 4 movies of 2022? I'm pretty sure I missed some great ones, but of the films released last year that I DID see, I think I enjoyed these four the most:

Oh! I finally played Flamecraft yesterday! It was a really neat game, enjoyed it! I am terrible at it, but I'm also keen to pick it up!
Finally putting down Spy x Family. Its warm charm kept it going for a while, but ultimately I did lose interest.

TTRPG night was cancelled, so I made up for it by finally watching Mother - the only major Bong Joon-ho film I'd not yet seen - and really enjoyed it. While I've struggled to enjoy his international projects, this home turf Korean films have always proven magnificent.

I just watched a belated review of Calisto Protocol that had a line something like 'the death animations are 'impressive and enjoyable... if only being alive was a tenth as fun', and *oof*.

I really, really adore the aesthetic of the Killing in the Name zine currently on kickstarter. This is *totally* my shit! Fuckin ADORE those Disco Elysium style character portraits.

Just won a game because: 1) final turn I played 2cards instead of 1 2) The prize card was at specific location 3) My opponent revealed first Thought I'd lost when I saw their card, but by PURE CHANCE the above 3 combined big-brain style to negate the effect, winning me the game

Finally got all the character art for one (of two) character sections in the zine I've slowly been working on in my spare time! Always so damn cool seeing it all come together. Just quickly slapped 'em together on one page to show 'em off!

Finally bought Wingspan. A few years late to this one, but I've really enjoyed it every time I've had a chance to play. Also just feels neat to have a new boardgame for the shelf.
Jumping back into the Stormlight Archives novel series since I finished Gideon the Ninth. Cautiously optimistic - while I enjoyed the first book in the series, and loved the first Mistborn trilogy, the second Mistborn trilogy was a miserable slog to get through.
Saw Neo-Tokyo and Shin Ultraman last night! The former was really neat, it's always fun to delve back into shorter form animated art films! The latter was neat, but its shtick ran thin for me fairly quickly.

Huh. Suicide squad looks... weirdly lacking in character? As in, the characters all seem like shooty characters, while their own unique characteristics seem to have taken quite a backseat.

I think the only thing that really bugged me was the mid-boss checkpoints for the last few bosses. It meant I beat them without... really learning how to fight them? As such, they weren't really satisfying, outside of their flavour.

Finally finished Hi-Fi Rush! Took a break after I bounced off the final boss quite hard (took me over a dozen attempts on my second go). Overall, an absolutely fantastic experience!
