Go through the thread and look at this dudes replies. This is why I never respond to innocent looking questions like this. I always just assumed that instead of learning, they just want to debate my humanity or troll me. I don't have time for that.

Tweet from @pierrevanmart: "I agree that tech can be political, but I don't understand how FOSS is. As I said in another tweet, we should care about the result, but who or what we are is irrelevant. Extreme example: "Would you accept a good PR for Hitler?" -> well, for me, if it's good code, why not?"

See how that started with an innocent "I'm just here to learn" question, and then it escalated to "sure, I'd approve Hitler's PRs"? This is why I don't engage. If you really want to learn, do your own research. Not gonna explain my humanity to folks who just want to troll.

I have heard this very analogy from very well liked tech folk. Very well liked ones. Who either drank the unsee juice or enjoy trolling. It goes all the way up to the top .

That is not my point (and there is no need to tag my company, with an out-of context tweet, that is lame). My point is I will gladly accept any PR from anyone as long as it solves a real need and that the code is good. (talking about a one-time PR)

it's mind-blowing that people say things like this, and think it's the ultimate neutral politically untainted take. What they're really saying is "I would engage with a monstrous person if it benefits me."

The answer to his question is “we wouldn’t accept a PR from Hitler because we have ethics”... FYI there is a similar ethical issue in the science of pain where some of the research was obtained in 1940’s Nazi Germany by torturing people in concentration camps... 😱

Though a different question would be “would you accept a drive-by PR from 1910’s Hitler” wherein he hasn’t demonstrated a mismatch in values... which gets a different answer from 1940’s Hitler who’s been rabble rouser in the forums for 3-4 years causing conflict everywhere!
