Recently was asked what ‘moat’ my startup had by a VC. I get that having an advantage that can’t be copied is huge, but today almost anything can be technically replicated. Did Slack really have a ‘moat’ when they started? Seems like they just built a product people loved.

Lots of kinds of moats... in Slack's case, once they get in it is v hard to switch because of integrations. Some company-to-company network effects as people leave and are familiar with the tool, etc. But yeah for many companies it is just speed and quality...
