What’s a good movie / tv show that escapes the narrative fallacy? I’d like to watch something showing men evolving inside complex, emergent systems, instead of the usual emphasis on the impact and linear story of a lone hero

The best example I can think of is The Wire, which changed my standards so as to make Game of Thrones and superhero movies unbearable. Deadwood has a little bit of it too.
Haha... OK we’re clearly barking up the same tree here :). I also find GoT unwatchable now — and Breaking Bad — although I wish I could find some way to like them

Used to be a huge fan of Breaking Bad, but yeah it’s suffered on this dimension. Still love the photography, and evolution of the characters.

Game of Thrones is a very interesting example - no other show transitions so clearly from "book-based" to "TV writer-based" to showcase the deficiencies of the latter.
