What’s a good movie / tv show that escapes the narrative fallacy? I’d like to watch something showing men evolving inside complex, emergent systems, instead of the usual emphasis on the impact and linear story of a lone hero
oh man, this expresses almost exactly what I want most from my own TV and movie experiences. I’ll share some of my recommendations if you’ll share yours :).

The best example I can think of is The Wire, which changed my standards so as to make Game of Thrones and superhero movies unbearable. Deadwood has a little bit of it too.

1. The Wire (obviously?) 2. Deadwood. Even better than the Wire on this dimension, IMO. 3. Boyhood. Probably my favorite movie of all time. 4. The Florida Project. Kinda smaller in scope than the others, but it very much escapes the narrative fallacy.
