Good point about power getting decentralized from Swearengen. Otherwise I mostly watched Deadwood as a tale of the city itself becoming more and more of a central hub.

The Wire isn't really about decentralization, but does show the way many phenomena can arise as a result of systemic effects. E.g., many roles in a society are really ecological niches that will be filled by _someone_, in a completely decentralized way

If you have some time on your hands, my new favorite is the series Mr. Robot. Central plot takes apart big banks, which it successfully depicts using methods that actually could work (writers consult hacker specialists in real life) Neat mental health/fight club overlay to boot.
