Sam very clearly 'gets' the book, arguably as well as anyone, so I take his main lament seriously — that we don't give any advice for what to do or how to cope with the inner elephant.

One reason for this: I wanted the book to be analytical rather than practical (because that's the kind of book I generally like to read myself). But perhaps that's an excuse, because a bigger problem is that *I don't know* what to do about the elephant.

Personally, I'm pretty happy just to understand what's going on. But if step 1 is "knowledge" and step 3 is "profit!", then I'm definitely stuck on step 2.
