I first became aware of the "Elephant in the Brain" after reading The Selfish Gene and Rebel Sell (a book that interprets the rise of the counterculture with Veblen status games) as a kid. They make great compliments to @robinhanson and @KevinSimler superb book.

Nope but I loved The Mating Mind. Lately I'm interested in how mindfulness and psychedelics can help one to become more cognizant of the elephant, and therefore promote meta-rationality.

The elephant mind thinks *and remembers* in physical sensations. Vipassana meditation will teach you to be aware of it. Use that extra sense to explore the elephant. Then forgiveness, apreciation, and peace, to heal.
