Is there a slight conflict in that, while competitive altruism / enlightened self-interest is individually adaptive, encouraging others to behave this way too conceptually undermines one’s competitive advantage?
huh, interesting. that thought never occurred to me. maybe?! my intuition says that it's win-win (where the only people who lose are exploitative players), but i dunno. the "competitive" in competitive altruism can get pretty intense (e.g., in arabian babblers)

I suppose if your article drives competitive altruism in a way that reduces your advantage that would make it an act of true altruism! Otoh, competitive altruism is probably susceptible to first mover advantage and network effects so you still win
