I suppose, my definition was something beneficial to ppl not personally related to you, outside of friend groups, family etc and of no expectation of repayment (as I’m unsure “true altruism” is humanly possibly, this would be the best I can come up with)
This is very well established by e.g., @DeirdreMcClosk in "Bourgeois Values" etc --> Selling in a marketplace makes you meet a lot of people which you later care about.
