This produces a feeling that FB exerts “more control” over their feed than GOOG. Whether it’s actually “more control” is just semantics.

Google search is fast iterable with different search terms and advanced search settings and quotes. you can't fast iterate your FB feed.

People also usually want exactly one thing at a time from a google search, so ads are much more targeted.

a facebook wall is more like a "location" which as long as maintains a certain threshold of desirability can also fill up with ads.
