it’s actually bc it’s wrong, there’s no such thing as a “real” intellectual it’s just pseudo intellectuals who admit it vs those who don’t

Half-assed theory: modernity provided conditions of possibility for actual intellectuals; postmodernity does not, so they are extinct.

Pseudo-X is characteristic of postmodernism (worship of surfaces and simulacra) which I for one reject.

In a more straightforward sense, a pseudo intellectual might be someone trying to be a midern-model intellectual and failing.

I doubt any of us are doing that, so either way I’m not enthusiastic about the label “pseudo-intellectual”.

Maybe I’m taking this too seriously (and maybe even thinking like a modern person here). But there’s a scent of nihilism in “pseudo”
