Do you find you can be more objective about what you hear when it's someone(thing) other than yourself reading it back?

I do this without assistance, as I'm British. I have changed my siri voice to Australian though (rising intonation alert!)

I also find using a British accent helps hide Text-to-Speech weirdness when it has trouble saying words correctly.
