I accept the analogy, but unlike actual violence, it's exceptionally hard to coordinate on how to delineate "verbal violence."
Given the slope is so much slipperier, we need to be that much more cautious about changing the rules. This is a textbook Chesterton fence.

I think this is where institutional censorship is useful. it's much easier to change rules inside of an institution.

very apt. good to have experimentation at smaller levels where there is actual competition. google gets it wrong, nbd. govt gets it wrong,
