I think this is where institutional censorship is useful. it's much easier to change rules inside of an institution.

I also wonder if being exposed to it is more important for our resilience & growth since physical adversity is rarer today.

true—I think this is why the law/courts mostly leave it to institutions (outside unprotected speech).
