tbh I don't understand enough to appreciate what you're saying. I'm most just appalled at my past failure to appreciate traditional cities.

That whole thread reads like rose-colored glasses on premodern cities. Were they really any more pleasant to live in than modern cities?

In my (limited) experience — yes, much more pleasant. But this is something I had to learn the hard way :(.

Definitely interesting. Seems to underrate the value of cheap space (suburbs), which is possible when home does not compete with commerce.
