      my biggest hangup is that politics is 98% optics, 2% real value/incentives. and i can't get motivated to do "good" by that ratio :(

      Nice post. I agree with almost all of this — in particular, that apathy is generally unethical because it's a PD defection.

          This is wrong. Real life is not the PD. You have options other than cooperate and defect, and lies are ubiquitous
