Why do so many people make a big deal about the discovery of mirror neurons? Shouldn't they have been obvious ex ante?

don't mirror neurons also fire when we use metaphors? E.g., when I grasp a cup and also when I ask you if you grasp the idea?

haha ok "obvious" is a strong word. still, i maintain that mirror neurons are a lot less profound than they're usually billed as.
