I don't know about "shun," but his incoherent argument for Trump makes it impossible to take him seriously as a thinker.
That's fair. You can lose respect for someone for their political beliefs/arguments/stances, as casually as you like, IMO.

So 'shun' is wrong frame for Thielgate IMO. But for me the Shun Line is silence in face of open bigotry.
