Num followers is a terrible metric. Better to track someone's *de facto* followers, e.g., by using [average # of likes per top-level tweet].

I'm thinking in terms of approximating the absolute number of active followers, instead of average per tweet.
Isn't average likes per tweet (across a large # of tweets) linearly proportional to # active followers?

Suppose you have 100 followers who love you, but they also follow many others, so each of your tweets is seen&liked by only 1

That's approximately the same as having 100 lukewarm followers, 10 of whom see each tweet, where 1/10 like what they see.

But I agree there are differences b/t scenario 1 and 2. In scenario 1, your tweets are probably higher quality.
