I agree with the thesis (tentatively, as always). I missed the "dichotomy" part, but yeah, it doesn't have to be either/or.

imo just being good listener isn't enough. leader should have strong bias and then be willing to modify that via listening

Honest question: why is having a strong bias necessary or good? Can't leadership be directionless (mediation & balancing)?
