Standing n.b.: With rare exceptions, human/social phenomena are *continuous.* To treat them as discrete is merely a convenient shorthand.

More generally: *biological* phenomena are continuous.
There's no such thing as a "sociopath" or a "democracy" any more than there are discrete "species" or black-and-white "adaptations."
