seems victim narratives have a tendency to perpetuate themselves more effectively. (At least in some communities eg HN, Reddit)

@ciphergoth An explanation is not an excuse. As this says, people see attempts to explain behavior as attempts to excuse it. -
This makes the scientist narrative look much less sympathetic to people who sympathize with the victim narrative.
