Anyone have a decent grasp on animism? I'm curious whether the animist *worldview* can be analyzed apart from its *worship practices.*

I want to draw a clean line between the two. I also want to say that "religion" resides in the worship practices, not in the beliefs.

@KevinSimler I don’t think you can create the division. Rituals can’t be extracted from daily life. There is a fusion between the two.1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -

@sscotty But is that parallel valid? Did farmer gods slowly evolve (culturally) out of animist/forager spirits?2 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -

@sscotty I'd wager that farmer worship practices evolved out of forager totemism/cults/ancestor worship. But are the beliefs isomorphic?3 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -

@KevinSimler@sscotty Yes, commonality b/w gods and spirits. Salient difference is how the spirit world mimics human society. god=king2 replies 0 retweets 1 like
