@sarahdoingthing @GabrielDuquette but don't you need a fundamental (economic?) reason to be together before, rituals can have any effect?

@KevinSimler @GabrielDuquette maybe, or maybe they can co-opt circuits that rightly assumed shared economic reason for most of human history

@sarahdoingthing @GabrielDuquette that feels like fighting the tides to me. without a true network effect, rituals are just wasted energy

@sarahdoingthing @GabrielDuquette i mean, that's kind of what rituals are (waste), but they pay off because trust enhances the group
