Earnest Q: How much of the overzealotry of SJWs (for example) should be attributed to bad manners? Some? None? All?

@KevinSimler You can find a lot of overt arguments talking about this: Respectability Politics, debates about grammar as a barrier to entry

@KevinSimler But in fact SJWs are not un-mannered: They're trying to set up a different, conflicting system of manner norms to enforce.

@drethelin Makes me wonder: What if the system of manners I grew up with is fundamentally unsuited to a world with social media in it?

@KevinSimler an example I was thinking about the other day is "Venting", which classically is ok to do to your friends about a third party

@KevinSimler But the nature of social media means your venting might slur someone worldwide, or simply just reach their ears.

@drethelin Or deriding a "public figure" for some bad idea. I don't deride people in my social circle, but now our circles are widening...
