Some of the tantric “energy” exercises are somewhat similar to this.
Aikido is like this, and the ki-aikido subbranch is a whole lot like this. Ki may not be a mystic life force or anything, but the ki exercises absolutely do work.
Only once I received instructions like this, learning to meditate. To keep correct posture, the instructor told me to imagine a string running up from my spine until the top of my head and extending to the sky from there. He told me to “pull the string up”. It was very helpful.
