Rational rejection of an image doesn’t necessarily dislodge it from your subconscious/gut/feels. It’s hard even to know how it’s already been incorporated epistemically, even if you want to root it out via deliberate compensation.

I'm not super committed to this position but I'll try to flesh it out:
deepfakes are not inherently different in kind from regular fakes, some kind of art, etc wrt their capacity for warping our subconscious/emotions. so their existence as artifacts is not the problem per se
