I confess I don’t get the existential concern around deepfakes. Can anyone explain it to me? I imagine we’ll have a few incidents where deepfakes are taken too seriously, as we get used to them. But we’ll learn and adapt pretty quickly, as we did with Photoshop. Yes/no/maybe?
That’s a much better example! Still I don’t think this is going to shake up our democracy (more than it’s already being shaken). But maybe I just lack the imagination.

It is a massive improvement for individual privacy though. But the key issue for this example is actually "can we trust this person?". It's just old methods obsoleted by new tech. The new tech will provide new ways to do so.
