I haven’t thought much about this, but I get antsy when the state tries to crack down on anonymity. I would sooner pass a law that says committing violence in a mask carries a 2x penalty (or whatever multiplier makes sense).
I kind of feel like masks might be in the same category as guns WRT to enabling occasional worse criminality but keeping them legal makes tyranny way harder
It’s also hard to draw the line between a mask and e.g. a niqab?
