I think you’re being too nice to the careerists — I understand Kevin’s point here to be that they themselves, not our mixing with real scientists, are what gums up progress
In the essay, I had Florent’s meaning in mind: careerists as strictly negative. But it certainly seems possible to construct a related model where type A nodes get along by themselves, B nodes get along by themselves, but the two types don’t mix well.
Ah, I see. I guess I just don't mind what they do, so long as it doesn't interfere with my work :)
