isn't muting or blocking somewhat analogous to shorting? though tbf they are both badly executed as features and lack symmetry with what following signals as well as how it alters the feed

it's an interesting thought what twitter might be like if you could "antifollow", diminishing peoples' influence more broadly than just in your threads, although the heuristics they use to order replies or surface tweets in the non latest tweets timeline seem pretty opaque to me

relatedly, it's generally believed that calling out in a reply or quote tweeting amplifies a message based on these heuristics... i wonder if they take the infamous ratio into account?
