I unfollowed 40% of my followees yesterday and it’s so liberating. It’s now reasonable to read every tweet again. Paying back follow debt to is a key part of making Twitter useful.
I don’t think that tweet had any effect. Possibly reverse effect due to fake-scarcity pseudo-cachet of following a protected account and Tom Sawyer fence-whitewash/cartmanland effect
I can’t think of any meaningful way to drive unfollows besides acting like a jerk.
