It was easier for me to unfollow when twitter didn’t show who follows you back and how large swaths of your friends follow that person. Ingrained peer pressure / reciprocity bias

I unfollowed drethelin because he was like 90% of my timeline but then I end up reading most of it anyway by visiting his profile. I think this is a good arrangement.
