I'd argue that there are many videos these days, especially sourced from livestreams, etc., where that barrier to video content getting made that he mentions doesn't exist.
But the random access/skimming barrier, the pause and read-over to digest barrier, and info-density barriers remain. Some stuff (eg advanced math dense) is practically impossible to pick up via video, a lot of the rest is transmitted more slowly.
@handleym99 those seem like separate points (while being valid/important)
@bzogrammer good point. I suppose we should modify the argument to pertain to produced/scripted videos. Live recordings are more textlike in that regard (being cheap to make)
(I'm indexing pretty narrowly on the relative costs here... arguably Byrne was making more/broader points.)
