Depending on how you slice it, we have ~8 sensory systems: —Vision —Hearing —Touch —Taste —Smell —Vestibular (balance) —Interoception (internal organs) —Propriocetion (joints/muscles) Idea: modeling introspection as a 9th “sensory system” Is this stupid? Profound? Fruitful?

Well, for one, you don't monitor or perceive anything happening in your brain any more than you do so for your liver. The brain is an organ with at best shaky and incomplete non-reductive causal relations with perceptual and mental activity.

When it comes to "I want to watch tv", much of the time it just happens, you do it without reflecting on that desire. Noticing that desire is noticing your actual movement towards watching tv, or your propensity to do so, which shows up in eg muscle tone
