My mind balks slightly at calling this "legitimation" (although whatever we call it, it seems a very useful concept). Is this a commonly accepted definition of "legitimation"?pic.twitter.com/NoZMXkqrYE

Pls to substitute another phrase here? To make it more concrete and natural rather than abstract and supernatural?pic.twitter.com/2m0UrZvGiG

Man you're crushing it in this article. These "of courses" are _totally warranted_, but only because you've done so much work to tee them up. Such great payoffpic.twitter.com/nnaTMu5FWo

Ahhh... based on this paragraph, I now realize I had the wrong idea over in our other thread. (I'm also questioning whether I really understand that Adam Smith quote......) https://twitter.com/C_Harwick/status/1150604169667108865?s=20 …pic.twitter.com/dC2irxSuk6

Because I've written so much about social status, people often ask me if status is a zero-sum game. I think it largely is (most of the ways people try to escape that conclusion are flawed). But *trust* is a kind of social status, and can be increased across the board.pic.twitter.com/6XcGy5JMcH

Question for you (not necessarily related to this point in the article). The discussion seems to revolve around _Europe's_ transition from "conditional toleration equilibrium" to "religious liberty equilibrium." Is it useful to compare/contrast with what happened in America?
