What are some lifestyle choices or decisions you’ve made that most people would consider “unconventional”? — taking a different path, coloring outside the lines, etc. If those choices are in hindsight, how do you think about them now?

Well, it’s really not even a remote habit here in Europe, so haven’t thought about it for real. On the practical side, we both work. On top of that given how hard it is to get my 14 yrs old to listen to me I am not sure I would be successful :) (if by HS we mean by parents)
Yeah I imagine it’s something you have to prioritize / make significant tradeoffs against. And that you’d want to start when your kids are younger :) There are many things to dislike about America but I do enjoy that the frontier spirit is stronger here than most other places.

We started with our older two girls when they were in middle school. The third in 3rd grade, and the youngest is a feral ... never been to a “real” school.

True. I would say the perception that the “normal” education system is flawed is much lower. I’d say, 60% because it isn’t (here at least), 40% because of the lack of frontier spirit
