Yep, one big concern is that poor performance in grade school years can shatter kids' confidence in their critical thinking and learning ability. The same confidence that's key for continued knowledge acquisition and success in different learning contexts later in life.

yes! it’s so painful for me to think about this :( i was good at school and never had my confidence shattered. but i know it happens a lot, and it breaks my heart.
