Two thoughts: - I didn't miss much from an educational POV by being home-schooled (effectively unschooled) for all of middle school. - Schooling isn't nearly as oppressive as the job markets offering limited prospects for advancement which many people encounter afterwards.

- School (at least at HS/college level which I have a memory of) is more likely to place people in situations which test & extend the limits of their abilities, since educational admissions is less competitive than the market for jobs offering comparable intellectual challenges.
