There are many people I could mention here, but the person who really stands out is @vgr. He has innovated and surprised me so many times over the years: residencies, Refactor Camp, Breaking Smart, experiments with newsletters, running a longform course, blogchains, ...

I don't enjoy the results of every experiment (nor would I expect to), but I LOVE that he's always tinkering and trying new things.

Q: In what domain(s) are you most alive? What are some examples of other people's aliveness that you especially appreciate?

I’ve been thinking about this a lot recently, without having the concepts to start from, because I think I’m fundamentally ‘dead’ on Twitter, and I admire a lot of people who are very ‘alive’ here

I think (hope!) I’m really ‘alive’ in in-person conversation!

You are! Why do you think you're dead on Twitter? I have become Twitter-shy over the last few years because I rarely feel safe sharing my thoughts on here. It's frustrating.

I think I am 10x better at combining ideas and thinking verbally in real-time. My fave rhetorical style is ‘branch and merge,’ where a brief conceptual digression later links back up with the main thread - still unsure how to bend the Twitter form to this structure

Echoing Ollie of course: you are v. alive in person! It's weird how these different media work. I'm astonished that I feel comfortable on here... I really can't make sense of it based on my personality. Generally I feel unsafe saying things publicly as well. Go figure!
