For me, it's a great many things. But one thing in particular is the economy. I feel some vague pressure to pretend I understand what's going on, but actually it's a vast sea of complexity and I'm totally adrift.

In a similar vein, I do not really understand money. How does money work? I did a lot of reading about it when Bitcoin went on a tear to try to understand the claims being made on either side. I now have some silly cartoon explanations but I wouldnt bet a dime on them.

money and banking have rebuffed all my attempts at understanding them :(. i can get a bit conspiratorial at times, since it almost seems like they were designed with obfuscation as a goal

I have a finance background. Off the top of my head: Mortgages (paying points, shopping rates) and insurance. I get them in broad strokes but definitely not at a level most folks expect.
