But you have to maintain perpetual vigilance! Leave a phone or ipad alone fore two days and Twitter will "helpfully" switch you back to algorithmic I'm aware of no way of preventing this. I can't imagine what Twitter think is being achieved by reminding me once a week I hate them

I can't understand the appeal of the algorithmic feed. Entirely defeats the appeal of Twitter for me. I take great care to curate who I follow – why would I want an algorithm messing that up?

totally. I know the algo feed is better for Twitter, because it gives them more control over everything. I could also believe that it’s better for new users who haven’t made the effort to carefully curate their follows. But it’s a worse deal for power users :(

What's the difference between algorithmic tweet recommendations and, say, algorithmic book recommendations or algorithmic music recommendations? The machines tampering with what we put in our minds every day, and we like it.

I switched to chronological recently on a hunch to see if it would get rid of all the “you may like this tweet someone favorited” crap and it worked!
