What are you especially sensitive to, the way the princess was sensitive to the pea?

i’ll admit i had two people in mind with this question. one is @zooko, who seems especially sensitive to censorship, broadly construed — i.e., people monkeying with his information feeds. true/false/maybe?

the other is @webdevMason, who seems to have a heightened sensitivity to children’s growing minds (in some way that i’d love to hear her try to put into words)

People who assume that something complex and important is fully described by their preferred simple theory and that anyone who disagrees with them secretly believes it is fully described by "the evil simple theory".

princess was sensitive to the pea as signal she was a "true princess", yet none of the replies in this thread seem to characterize what their sensitivity proves about them! wasn't that the point of the citation? <--also my answer

Inefficiently complex systems. “Our life is frittered away by detail. Simplify, simplify, simplify! I say, let your affairs be as two or three, and not a hundred or a thousand; instead of a million count half a dozen, and keep your accounts on your thumb-nail.”
